Hospice of Acadiana has provided quality end-of-life care and comprehensive support services to terminal patients and their families throughout a 9-parish service area. We want to ensure that quality care will always be available for anyone in need, but we cannot do it without you.
The landscape of healthcare is rapidly changing and uncertain. With an increased aging population, the need for hospice and palliative services will be ever-increasing.
Endowment gifts are gifts that are invested and earn interest. A gift to the Endowment is a gift in perpetuity — a gift ensuring that care and support services will always be available to anyone in need. Gifts to Hospice of Acadiana's Endowment Fund will be critical in supporting Hospice of Acadiana's mission for decades to come.
THE NELSON SOCIETY
The Nelson Society was established in honor of Hospice of Acadiana's very first employee, who went on to become its first CEO, Nelson Waguespack (1942-2022). Throughout his 20+ years of service at Hospice of Acadiana, Mr. Waguespack was committed to caring for each patient as an individual. The Endowment will ensure quality end-of-life care is always available. Each benefactor will receive a plaque on our Donor Recognition Wall which will serve as the backdrop for our beautiful Labyrinth.
Memorial Endowment Gifts
Memorial Endowment Gifts are a beautiful way to pay tribute and memorialize those we love who have passed away. All donors who establish a named endowment subfund ($10,000+) as part of Hospice of Acadiana's Endowment will become lifetime members of the newly established Nelson A. Waguespack, Jr. Legacy Society.
Benefits include:
- The ability to continue charitable giving in perpetuity to Hospice of Acadiana
- Knowing that your gift will always be used as it was intended
- The ability to add to your Named Fund as desired
- The opportunity to leave a lasting legacy for your family and the community
- Receive a reduction in income tax liability

The Hospice of Acadiana Foundation is a publicly supported, tax-exempt corporation which was created by the Board of Directors of Hospice of Acadiana, Inc., a non-profit organization. The Foundation serves as the primary fundraising organization to help underwrite many of the support programs and services of Hospice of Acadiana, Inc. The Foundation was established in May 1996 and was granted non-profit status under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code in May 1997.
